President and CEO
Mr. Bustos is currently the President and CEO of Bustos Media Holdings, LLC; a leading private Spanish broadcast company headquartered in Portland, Oregon.
Mr. Bustos is currently on the Board of Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) and the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). Mr. Bustos is a founding shareholder of two Hispanic owned Community banks: Plaza Bank in Seattle and ProMerica Bank in Los Angeles. He is also a Limited Partner and member of the Investment Committee of HCP Capital; a Chicago based investment fund. Mr. Bustos is also a founding Limited Partner of Latin Idea Mexico Venture Capital Fund II, LP.
In 2004 Mr. Bustos raises $100 million in private equity to build Bustos Media, LLC. It eventually owned 25 radio and three TV stations in mid-size markets. These assets were sold to its lenders in October 2010 and renamed Adelante Media Group.
Previously, Mr. Bustos was founder, Chairman and CEO of Z-Spanish Media, Corp. which grew to 32 radio stations from 1993 to 2000. In August 2000 Z-Spanish merged with Entravision Communications (EVC: NYSE) at a valuation of $450 million.
The Bustos Family is dedicated to improving the educational opportunities for Hispanic youth. In 1996, Amador and his wife Rosalie established the Bustos/Lopez Family Fund. Since then they have supported more than 85 High School senior through their B.A and subsequent graduate degrees. The Bustos family is also a benefactor of the arts, and institutions of higher education.
Amador was born in Michoacán, Mexico. He immigrated to the United States when he was 13 years old without speaking any English. By the time he graduated from Sequoia High School in Redwood City, California he was one of two class valedictorians. He received concurrent B.As in Philosophy and Ethnic Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. He also received an M.A. and did post graduate studies in Sociology of Education at U.C. Berkeley. |
